Job Description:

Southern Jersey Family Medical Centers, Inc. Children's Oral Health Program is seeking a part-time (10 hrs./week – two 5 hour days)  for a 40 week position (September to mid-June) to implement oral health education programs in Atlantic, Cape May, and  Cumberland Counties.  Registered dental hygienists, nurses or health educators will be considered. 

 The goal of the Program is to improve the oral health status of New Jersey school children, specifically targeting high-need/high-risk schools in identified counties. This position reports to the Regional Oral Health Coordinator.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct outreach and oral health education programs in identified high risk schools

  • Coordinate program activities and supply distribution with participating schools

  • Provide regular progress updates and program reports to Regional Oral Health Coordinator

Experience and Skills:

The ideal candidate/applicant will possess the following:

•High school diploma or GED

•Enthusiasm for promoting children’s oral health

•Strong organization skills and attention to detail •Ability to work independently

•Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); public speaking

•Experience providing oral health education for children in a school or community-based setting Reliable transportation is necessary.

The candidate will travel to schools and identified community organizations to conduct education programs and distribute program supplies. Candidate must also attend 2 statewide meetings per year. Residents of Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties are encouraged to apply. Candidates will be asked to present a brief tooth brushing demonstration for school aged children as part of the interview process.
