Job Description:

Patient Access Representative

Southern Jersey Family Medical Centers, Inc. is looking for Patient Access Representatives to step into our culturally diverse and fast-paced facility!

Summary: The Patient Access Representative is responsible for handling high-volume inbound and outbound calls for an ambulatory healthcare facility which includes Internal Medicine, OB-GYN and Dental services. He or she will provide excellent customer service to patients and staff. Ideal candidate should have prior experience working in an ambulatory care setting or call center with an emphasis on scheduling and patient satisfaction.

Hours: The full-time position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule. General hours would be between 8:00 am - 7:00 pm, Monday - Friday with at least two late nights per week.

There are full time, part time options available.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:
* Answer incoming telephone calls through multiple line system in a courteous and professional manner
* Perform an accurate search for the patient in the database, thus reducing the number of duplicate patient records in EMR system
* Obtain all appropriate demographic and financial coverage for the patient and entering the data into the Registration Database
* Schedule appointments using the correct protocols established by department, for every provider within a department and for ancillary departments when required
* Assessing the patient’s financial ability to pay for services and provide patients with necessary information required
* Route phone calls; transfers calls as appropriate to clinical and support staff
* Address questions and concerns from callers and forward to appropriate staff or department; answer and manage voice mail and faxes
* Maintain excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external callers
* Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
* Coordinate obtaining interpreter services, as required for patient visits
* Report all critical incidents to manager in a timely fashion
* Other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills:

Position Requirements:

* High School Diploma or GED
* Experience in an ambulatory care physician/dental practice with previous scheduling and registration experience
* Familiar with medical terminology
*  EMR experience
* Strong computer skills (MS Office applications)
* Typing Skills a must
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work in a fast paced/large volume setting required
* Bilingual candidates preferred (Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole)
